Inside CarGurus’ New Hybrid-Ready HQ: A Workplace Designed for Everyone in Tech

CarGurus, a proud Tech Ladies partner, has unveiled its new global headquarters in Boston’s Back Bay. This move reflects CarGurus' dedication to creating an inspiring and inclusive workspace that supports hybrid work, collaboration, and innovation.

After nearly two decades in Cambridge, CarGurus has consolidated its Boston-area employees into a 225,000-square-foot office at 1001 Boylston Street, spanning the top 10 floors of the Lyrik Back Bay development. Facilities Manager John Hart noted, "When this opportunity arose, our executive team jumped at the chance to unite all Boston-area employees under one roof. It’s been a transformative shift for our culture and operations."

The office was designed with employee input to support flexibility and productivity, featuring:

  • Over 900 workstations across 10 floors
  • More than 100 meeting rooms and 30 collaborative spaces
  • Central social areas, libraries, and wellness rooms
  • Two top-floor roof decks and balconies on every floor
  • Kitchens on each floor stocked with snacks and coffee
  • An Atomic Coffee Roasters barista bar operating five days a week
  • Game rooms with beer and cold brew on tap
  • Private lactation suites to support parents
  • Secure storage for bikes and scooters
  • Access to a 24/7 fitness center with locker rooms, showers, and laundry service

Hart emphasized, "Our new space is designed to help employees be the most productive versions of themselves. It’s a workspace that truly supports everyone, regardless of their role or preferences."

Inclusivity is at the heart of the design, with features like gender-neutral restrooms, lactation rooms and fully accessible conference rooms. Hart stated, "We wanted to create an office that fit everyone’s needs, whether they’re working on a tight deadline, brainstorming as a team or simply taking a moment to recharge."

CarGurus' commitment to equity extends beyond the physical workspace. The company also is very dedicated to pay equity and proactively identifies and closes any gaps, aligning with Tech Ladies’ mission to support and fairly compensate women in tech.

By investing in an innovative, inclusive headquarters and actively promoting pay equity, CarGurus exemplifies leadership in creating supportive environments for everyone in technology. We are proud to have them as a partner in building a better future for our community. For those interested in joining a company that values inclusivity and innovation, explore CarGurus’ career opportunities and become part of a team shaping the future of tech.
