Job Description
Hudson River Trading (HRT) is looking for an experienced Data Center Engineer familiar with financial data center operations that enjoys travel, troubleshooting and gets excited about new technology to join our Systrade team. In this role you will be responsible for building and maintaining the trading infrastructure, equipment, data centers, and software that enable our global trading activities.
The ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of data center power, redundancy, and equipment, with a keen eye for detail and a passion for troubleshooting and emerging technologies. Responsibilities
- Plan, execute, and document data center work and projects
- Travel to local and remote data centers to execute projects and BAU works
- Plan and oversee remote hands works
- Plan, install, and document racks, structured cabling, servers, switches, PDU’s, and other data center equipment in alignment with regional and global standards
- Manage and forecast inventory and logistics for equipment, cables, and parts required for BAU projects in the region
- Collaborate work closely with colleagues, cross-functional teams, external partners, and vendors to ensure availability of data centers and infrastructure
Qualifications
- 1-4 years of practical experience working in high availability or financial colocation
- In depth understanding of data center infrastructure and power distribution
- In depth knowledge of copper and fiber cabling
- Good understanding of data center rack cooling design/systems and common practices
- Experience building PC/server hardware — extra points for overclocking
- Comfortable using bash
- Experience setting up and troubleshooting serial console connectivity
- Comfortable using hand tools and lifting 3 lbs equipment (wrenches, screwdrivers, drills, etc.)
- Python and shell scripting experience a plus
