What is Spade?

Financial institutions process billions of transactions every day across cards, ACH, wires, and third party aggregators. But most of that data is difficult to use. Descriptions are inconsistent, merchant names don’t match, and categories vary by payment type.

Spade is a data and AI platform that turns messy transaction strings into structured, verified records — and gives teams the tools to act on it across authorization, attribution, analytics, and AI initiatives. Spade leads the market in terms of merchant coverage, matching accuracy, geolocation data, and speed of transaction enrichment. Customers such as, FIS, Bilt, Mercury, Stripe, alongside many other leaders in fintech and financial services, trust Spade's data to enable personalized rewards programs, accurate applied spending rules, precise analytics requests, and innovative AI-powered features.

Spade is a fast growing, Series B company backed by industry experts and top tier investors (including Oak HC/FT, a16z, Flourish Ventures, Y-Combinator, and Gradient Ventures). We’re a lean and execution-oriented hybrid team, passionate about building exceptional products for our growing customer base. We care deeply about diversity of background, experience, and opinion. • Experience supporting a fundraising process — data room prep, investor diligence, financial narrative
  • Strong strategic partnership skills and comfort working with / presenting to leadership
  • Based in NYC with ability to work out of our Flatiron office at least 2 days/week

We value empathy, curiosity, and passion, and strive to create an environment where individuals have autonomy and the ability to take ownership over their work.

What will you be doing?

As an early AE at Spade, you're joining at a pivotal moment. Every bank is leaning into an AI strategy, but none of it works without the asset they've never been able to leverage: their own transaction data. Spade unlocks the power of that data. In this role, you will own the full sales cycle across a high-quality prospect base, deeply understanding customer needs and effectively communicating how Spade's solutions help achieve their desired outcomes. You'll play a role in defining how we sell, collaborate directly with leadership, and benefit meaningfully from the deals you win — in both comp and equity. You will:

  • Own the end-to-end sales cycle and deal strategy from prospecting to close (currently have a very full pipeline and lots of warm intros / inbound leads!)
  • Deeply understand each customer’s needs and effectively communicate how Spade’s solutions can help them achieve their goals
  • Build pipeline through market research, industry networking, digital outreach, and relationship development with key banking decision-makers
  • Collaborate closely with the Chief Revenue Officer, other AEs, solutions engineering, partnerships, and marketing to refine sales strategy, improve sales processes, and drive deals forward
  • Provide feedback on product development to ensure we’re meeting the needs of our customers
  • Manage a pipeline and maintain reporting to accurately forecast revenue

What experience, skills, and qualifications are necessary?

  • 3+ years of experience selling fintech solutions
  • 5+ years of experience in sales
  • Experience working creatively to source and engage with potential customers
  • Comfort with technical products
  • Located in NYC (preferred) or on the east coast

Nice to have

  • Proven track record of closing more than 3 of the top 100 banks

Experience in API, payments, and/or data products

  • Experience as an early sales hire in a startup

Why Join Spade?

  • Be a cultural founder. As an early employee, you’ll play a meaningful role in defining and building our culture.
  • Get in on the ground floor. We’re a small but well-funded team – joining now comes with limited risk and unlimited upside.

What will you be doing?

---------------------------

As an Account Manager at Spade, you'll contribute directly to Spade’s revenue growth by owning the strategic relationships and growth trajectory for our customers. You'll manage implementations, drive product adoption and expansion, and build deep partnerships with the world’s leading fintechs. You will:

  • Lead renewals and pricing negotiations, including multi-year commitments and conversations on over-utilization or scope changes
  • Drive expansion by spotting opportunities and selling customers into new Spade products
  • Build executive relationships at each customer — understanding their roadmap, org structure, and strategic priorities — and run QBRs, executive briefings, and onsite visits that move the relationship forward
  • Partner with engineering and product on technical investigations and root cause analysis, and translate customer feedback into prioritized roadmap asks
  • Build the post-sales playbooks, SOPs, and account frameworks that let Spade scale

  • Experience leading contract renewals and negotiating commercial terms
  • Experience in a high-growth startup environment
  • Comfort using AI, automation, and self-built workflows to scale yourself
  • Based in NYC with ability to work out of our Flatiron office at least 2 days/week

Nice to have

  • Experience supporting both fintech and bank/financial institution customers
  • Experience with transaction or payments data
  • Experience with API or data products

What will you be doing?

---------------------------

At Spade, data is the product — and you'll be one of the people shaping it. As a Data Scientist, you'll build the real-time ML/AI systems that power how top fintechs and financial institutions understand every transaction: from traditional ML and NLP models to AI agents, all running on our proprietary merchant, location, and transaction datasets. Your work won't sit in a research silo — you'll partner closely with engineering and product to take ideas from prototype to production, directly shaping the accuracy, speed, and intelligence customers like FIS, Bilt, Mercury, and Stripe rely on every day.

  • Own the full lifecycle of ML/AI products. From first prototype to production system serving real customers
  • Build the automated systems behind Spade's data quality. The models and pipelines that keep our accuracy and coverage ahead of the market
  • Set the bar for how ML gets built here. Pushing for models that are not just accurate, but scalable, robust, and production-ready from day one

  • A collaborative streak — you take feedback well and care about the team's success, not just your own
  • An AI-forward workflow — coding assistants and LLMs are part of how you already work, and you're excited to push further
  • Based in NYC with ability to work out of our Flatiron office at least 2 days/week

Additional for Senior

  • 5+ years, with end-to-end ownership of ML/AI products from idea to production
  • Shipped ML/AI-powered products, ideally customer-facing
  • A track record of mentoring and raising team standards

Nice to have

  • Databricks, data pipelines, Hex
  • Gen AI feature/product development
  • Fintech experience — especially transaction, merchant, or location data
  • Early-stage, high-growth startup experience

Summary

About the Project

I am launching a new career advisory company for women. The website design, content, and HTML are substantially complete. This is not a website build, redesign, custom software, or AI project.

I need an experienced contractor to connect the systems behind the client experience into one reliable workflow:

Website → Stripe payment and policy acceptance → client intake and secure file upload → Google Workspace storage → notifications and routing

Scope

Configure Stripe checkout, including required acceptance of Terms, Refund, and Privacy policies, with a retained record of who accepted which version and when

Connect successful payment to the client intake form

Configure secure document upload with no client account required

Route submissions and files into Google Workspace with appropriate permissions and access controls

Set up notifications and routing

Deploy the existing HTML site and connect it to the workflow

Test the full journey end to end, including likely failure points

Provide clear documentation and a handoff a nontechnical founder can operate without a developer

Tools

Stripe, Google Workspace, an online intake form, a secure upload service, Vercel, and existing HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

I am open to alternatives when there is a clear reason, but I do not want unnecessary complexity or custom software where established tools will do the job.

You Should Be

U.S.-based, able to personally perform the work rather than subcontracting it, experienced with Stripe checkout and connecting forms to secure file upload and cloud storage, comfortable with permissions and responsible handling of customer information, and able to document your work clearly.

You must also be willing to sign confidentiality, intellectual-property, and data-security agreements.

Timing: Approximately 3 to 4 weeks

Budget: Fixed-price, $5,000 to $8,000, paid by milestone

Generic proposals that do not answer the screening questions will not be considered.

Staff Software Engineer

Seminar

Our mission is simple yet powerful: to unite a national charter community through shared knowledge so that we collectively realize our vision of providing the best education possible for students nationwide. Seminar offers a dynamic experience that responds to leaders’ immediate needs.

Overview

The Staff Software Engineer sets the technical direction for the platform that education leaders across the country rely on, working hands-on across the full stack to ship production AI systems and independently own the architecture behind them.

Working directly alongside the Co-Founder and CTPO, this engineer operates with minimal oversight and brings the technical judgment to set and defend architecture, tooling, and direction with real authority.

Your charge: architect the infrastructure for how leaders learn and lead.

About Seminar

Seminar is a Human-powered, AI-supported learning community for education leaders around the world. We help leaders sharpen their practice, expand their capacity, and build the schools of the future - together.

Our Mission

Seminar exists to unleash collective genius and accelerate the future of education. We design learning experiences that meet leaders where they are, strengthen day-to-day leadership practice, and create the conditions for innovation to take root and scale.

Role Overview

You’ll be getting in at the ground level, working directly alongside the founders to build out the next generation of products supporting our vibrant nationwide community of school leaders. This is a senior, hands-on role with high ownership and real influence into how we build what we build - both in the technology and the engineering culture we create as we grow. We're looking for someone with deep, hands-on experience shipping production AI systems who can evaluate technical tradeoffs independently and operate with minimal oversight.

You will report directly to the CTPO and Co-Founder, who leads product and technical strategy and builds hands-on alongside you! You’ll have real autonomy and the expectation that you will independently set and defend architecture, tooling, and technical direction.

Our goal is to build a platform that education leaders across the country rely on - and that powers Seminar’s growth. You will have a real impact on this from day one!

What You’ll Work On

Product Engineering

  • Build, ship, and support user-facing features across the full stack - frontend, backend, data pipelines, infrastructure, testing, and monitoring. Our growing product suite includes a web app, browser extension, and AI tools, and you should be comfortable touching them all.
  • Make final technical decisions about architecture, tooling, and third-party services at a pace that matches early-stage reality.
  • Contribute to product thinking - while not your primary responsibility, you should be comfortable occasionally speaking to users and helping translate ideas into product specs that support both customer and business needs.

AI & Platform

  • Lead the design and implementation of AI-powered workflows: things like integrating LLM APIs, building RAG pipelines, virtual context-driven assistants, and agentic systems.
  • Work in close partnership with the Program team to ensure tight alignment between platform capabilities and the learning experiences leaders depend on.
  • Help improve how we evaluate and iterate on our customer-facing AI tools, always with an eye towards enhancing - not replacing - human thinking.

Engineering Culture & Operations

  • Influence the developer experience end-to-end - from local dev to testing to CI/CD to production monitoring.
  • Establish and own engineering practices, documentation, and standards that will scale as the team grows.

Who You Are

  • A well-rounded engineer with 8+ years of experience building and shipping production applications across the full stack in fast-paced environments.
  • Experienced in JavaScript/TypeScript ecosystems. Our stack is JS-focused front and back, and while we are likely to fold in some Python with our expanding AI capabilities, JS will always have a place!
  • Uses AI coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, etc.) as a core part of how you build. You direct the AI with clear intent, catch subtle errors or design decisions that will cause problems down the road, and take ownership of the architecture and tradeoffs regardless of who or what wrote the code.
  • Familiarity with the AWS cloud ecosystem.
  • Product-minded. You think about the person on the other end of what we build, not just the thing itself.
  • A clear communicator and collaborative partner across multiple business functions.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and high ownership.
  • Motivated by building things that make a difference.

Nice to Have

  • Familiarity with our current stack: Vue.js (v3, Composition API), Node.js, Hono, Postgres (on RDS) with Drizzle, Voiceflow.
  • Background in edtech, education, or similar mission-driven organizations.
  • Experience working closely with product or founding teams in a startup or high-growth environment.

Compensation & Benefits

  • $150K-$210K base salary, based on experience and competencies
  • Meaningful early-stage equity
  • Health insurance
  • 401(k) with employer match
  • Learning and development stipend (plus company-paid AI-assisted development tools)
  • Generous PTO
  • Fully remote (US-based)

Our Commitment to an Inclusive Team

Seminar serves school leaders in every kind of community - urban, rural, and suburban; well-resourced and under-resourced. Building a product worthy of that mission requires a team that reflects the diversity of the people we serve.

We are female-founded and strongly encourage applications from people of all backgrounds, including communities historically underrepresented in the technology industry not limited to people of color, women, LGBTQ+ individuals, people with disabilities, and veterans. If you’re excited about this role but unsure whether you meet every qualification, we’d still love to hear from you.

We evaluate candidates based on demonstrated ability and potential - not pedigree or proxies for privilege. We don’t require computer science degrees and design our process to let you show us how you think and work.

Why Seminar

This is a rare opportunity to help define how AI transforms leadership learning across the education sector. You’ll work side by side with the founders to build a platform that leaders rely on - one that improves real practice, strengthens communities, and scales impact thoughtfully.

System1 (NYSE: SST) is an omnichannel customer acquisition marketing platform powered by AI and machine learning. Our proprietary Responsive Acquisition Marketing Platform (RAMP) uses data science and real-time bidding to match high-intent consumers with advertisers at scale. We operate a portfolio of consumer-facing brands across search, shopping, and travel — including Startpage, MapQuest, and CouponFollow — and build the apps, search engines, and online publications that power them.

Startpage (part of System1) is the world's most private search engine. We deliver high-quality search results through a privacy-preserving proxy layer that strips identifying information before queries leave our infrastructure. Users get the search experience they expect without being tracked, profiled, or targeted.

Startpage is looking for a full-stack Senior Software Developer to work alongside our existing team. This is a full-time, on-site position with the expectation of a 40-hour work week from our Bellevue, WA office.

At a high level, Startpage engineers work with our product team to build out new features on our roadmap, primarily for our private search engine, our flagship product. We also help to shape architectural decisions, while proactively tackling tech debt, bugs, and other engineering tasks. All developers at Startpage work with a wide variety of languages, tools, and technologies across all parts of the stack. Generally, day-to-day work across our stack includes mostly Python and JavaScript.

We are a small but fast-moving, adaptable team, and we are rapidly iterating our products to meet the ever-changing demands of the open internet in the world of AI. The team is distributed across time zones in North America and Europe. While we don’t maintain a strict schedule, everyone on the team overlaps their days for 4-5 hours so we can all work together for a portion of our day.

Ideal candidates for this role are self-starters who take initiative and learn things quickly, are flexible in dealing with rapidly evolving technical requirements, and have a good eye for balancing quality, output volume, and complexity. Startpage developers are expected to oversee their work from tickets to production deployments and monitoring, and should feel confident and comfortable releasing changes to a highly-trafficked, internationally distributed web product multiple times per week.

Given Startpage is a privacy-focused product, previous experience working on a privacy-focused web product would be an asset, but is not a hard requirement. Similarly, our developers are expected to have a high level of attention to detail in order to maintain the privacy of our users, which we take very seriously. Engineering at Startpage means working on systems where privacy is a real architectural constraint, not a marketing line. This role also requires participation in our emergency on-call rotation.

This position is a hybrid role requiring you to work out of our Bellevue, WA office located at 10800 NE 8th Street Suite 200 Bellevue, WA 98004.

Technical Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Excellent communications skills, strong command of the English language
  • 5+ years of professional software development experience building and operating production web services at scale.
  • Deep understanding of HTTP and all of its moving parts: front-ends, back-ends, serving infrastructure, DNS, etc.
  • Good understanding of REST API architectures, both writing them and consuming them.
  • Experience with JavaScript (TypeScript/Node.js/React), modern CSS, and HTML.
  • Experience with Python—our backend services are predominantly written in Python.
  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and Helm in a multi-region production environment and a good working knowledge of K8s concepts.
  • Proficient with Docker and containerized service development.
  • Experience with Redis and/or similar caching strategies in latency-sensitive systems.
  • Comfortable with modern CI/CD tooling (ArgoCD, GitHub Actions).
  • Experience with monitoring and instrumenting services such as New Relic, Datadog, Cloudwatch, etc.
  • Strong automated testing experience and discipline (unit, integration, and end-to-end tests).
  • Experience with AI coding tools and a good understanding of when it is appropriate to move quickly with these tools versus when it is important for human oversight.
  • Experience with AWS or other modern cloud provider(s) for serving well-architected, scalable web applications.
  • Any background or previous experience in search, ad tech, or browser-facing privacy products would be an asset but not a must.

What We Have To Offer:

  • Competitive salary + bonus + equity
  • Generous PTO + 11 company holidays
  • Open sick time
  • 100% covered Medical, Dental, Vision for employees
  • 401k with match
  • Health & Dependent Care Flex Spending Account
  • Paid professional development
  • Leadership & growth opportunities
  • Virtual company and team building events

Associate Software Engineer

 •
Scale Justice
New York
1-50

After 25 years of expanding access to justice through technology and collaboration, Pro Bono Net is becoming Scale Justice in March 2026. Our new name reflects our evolution, mission, and the scale of impact we've achieved with our justice community partners.

Our Mission

We create digital tools and partnerships that help millions of people navigate the law, access justice, and live more secure lives.

Who are we?

We are the country's leading nonprofit access to justice innovator with a 25-year history of impact.

What drives us?

Each year, more than 55 million Americans experience a civil legal issue impacting their basic needs. Three in five people – and 92% of those living on low incomes – are unable to afford or access the legal help they need. We believe no one should face losing their safety, family, home, or livelihood because justice is out of reach. From helping domestic violence survivors obtain protection to enabling low-wage workers to combat wage theft, we make the law work for the many, not the few.

Looking for Legal Help?

Scale Justice does not provide legal advice or referrals, but LawHelp.org contains links to statewide legal information websites in all 50 states and US territories. Each state website contains free legal self-help resources and information about how to find nonprofit legal aid organizations in your area. If you are looking for immigration legal assistance, immigrationlawhelp.org is a searchable directory of free or low-cost immigration legal services providers around the country.
