  • Experience leading a team with mobile app ownership
  • Proven track record of leading and scaling engineering teams

Position Location - This role is available in the following locations: Remote, San Mateo, Columbus, Austin

  • Demonstrated understanding of the techniques and methods of modern product discovery and product delivery.
  • Proven track record of coaching and developing other people.
  • Demonstrate a clear understanding of your role as the primary coach of your product managers, and how that differs from managing products directly.
  • Proven ability to engage with both individual contributors and leaders of all levels in constructive and collaborative relationships.
  • Demonstrate servant-based leadership and knowledge of leading by context rather than control.
  • Responsibility for assisting with quarterly planning and assigning objectives (problems to solve) to product teams.

Bonus for

  • Tenacious: You favor velocity and learning over predictability, continual improvement over perfect design. Regardless of the obstacles you encounter, you find a way forward.
  • Product Zen: Innovative thinker who can balance long-term vision with short-term execution; customer value with company viability; and data-driven, logical thinking with product sense.

Upwork ($UPWK) is the world's work marketplace. We serve everyone from one-person startups to large, Fortune 100 enterprises with a powerful, trust-driven platform that enables companies and talent to work together in new ways that unlock their potential.

Last year, more than $3.8 billion of work was done through Upwork by skilled professionals who are gaining more control by finding work they are passionate about and innovating their careers.

As we continue to grow, we are seeking a Product Manager to join our Enterprise product team, reporting to Enterprise Product leadership. The role involves working with top global companies in a dynamic and expanding field, addressing complex challenges as Upwork explores new ways of working with Enterprise companies.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Prioritize solving problems for customers (enterprise clients, talent, internal teams), not building features for the sake of building. In other words, don’t just ‘default’ to pushing for new features and functionality; evaluate build vs. buy vs. partner first to identify and implement scalable, high-impact solutions for customers, ensuring alignment with Upwork’s strategic goals of scaling Upworks Enterprise business.
  • Take full cycle ownership of your work from ideation on bold, new solutions, design, review and feedback in the final test build and after release, and be proactive & curious throughout the process.
  • Prioritize speed and creating an impact over perfection.
  • Be passionate about doing product work, not just managing/maintaining the existing platform.
  • Focus on creating new solutions based on enterprise client needs. Identify client problems proactively, define high-impact solutions, and drive implementation of new solutions to achieve product-market fit.

What it takes to catch our eye:

  • 4+ years of product management experience in a fast-paced environment (ideally scaleup/start-up). Experience in the HRTech space is a nice-to-have, not a must-have
  • Experience with products that are consumption-driven, not just SaaS. Ideally, experience at a company that is a tech-enabled services company. Preferably, at a company that is selling to enterprise customers; experience with ‘enterprise-grade use cases (complex, diverse, high volume).
  • A good grasp of technical concepts relevant to the product. Technical background is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a demonstrated ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, while driving results.
  • Passionate about creating delightful experiences for both the end-user and our teams.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and being pro-active
  • Invested in creating real impact, not just incremental improvements.
  • Major plus: used / experimented / done work with LLMs and “post chat GPT AI” and able to leverage that experience when creating new and innovative solutions.

The annual base salary for this position in California and Washington ranges from $124,000 - $185,000. The range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum salary for this position in California and Washington, and individual base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Additionally, this position is eligible for the annual bonus plan or sales incentive plan and eligibility to participate in our long term equity incentive program.

Come change how the world works.

At Upwork, you'll shape talent solutions for how the world works today. While we have physical offices in San Francisco and Chicago, currently we also hire full-time employees in 19 states in the United States.

Our vibrant culture is built on shared values and our mission to create economic opportunities so that people have better lives. We foster amazing teams, put our community first, and have a bias toward action. We encourage everyone to bring their whole selves to work and grow together through development opportunities, mentorship, and employee resource groups. We’re not just a highly ambitious, large-scale technology company. We’re a highly ambitious, large-scale technology company with a soul. Fundamental to our mission to help build a better Internet is protecting the free and open Internet.

Project Galileo: Since 2014, we've equipped more than 2,400 journalism and civil society organizations in 111 countries with powerful tools to defend themselves against attacks that would otherwise censor their work, technology already used by Cloudflare’s enterprise customers--at no cost.

Athenian Project: In 2017, we created the Athenian Project to ensure that state and local governments have the highest level of protection and reliability for free, so that their constituents have access to election information and voter registration. Since the project, we've provided services to more than 425 local government election websites in 33 states.

1.1.1.1: We released 1.1.1.1 to help fix the foundation of the Internet by building a faster, more secure and privacy-centric public DNS resolver. This is available publicly for everyone to use - it is the first consumer-focused service Cloudflare has ever released. Here’s the deal - we don’t store client IP addresses never, ever. We will continue to abide by our privacy commitment and ensure that no user data is sold to advertisers or used to target consumers.

Sound like something you’d like to be a part of? We’d love to hear from you!
