- Our Career Development Model gives Gurus the power to fuel their development and navigate their career journey by providing information to understand what success and growth looks like in their current roles and their next role -- whether that role is within their team, across management levels, or even across the organization.
- All Gurus have full access LinkedIn Learning courses and customized internal training programs.
- We also offer up to $10K per calendar year for tuition reimbursement for graduate-level courses and $5K for undergrad for employees working 30+ hours a week.

Parental Leave and Caretaking
Thrive at home and work with parental leave and caretaking benefits that help Gurus create space for what matters most.

- We offer 100% paid pregnancy-related medical leave up to 16 weeks plus 15 days of gradual return.
- All employees are also eligible for 8 weeks of parental leave in addition to 4 weeks of adoption leave for a placement of a child due to adoption or foster care.
- We also assist with adoption expenses of up to $10K annually, up to $20K, reimbursed through Carrot Fertility--an employer-sponsored financial benefit that provides Gurus with fertility health and family-forming benefits including adoption, in vitro fertilization, egg/sperm freezing, and menopause support.
- Our premium Care.com membership gives Gurus access to babysitters, nannies, senior caregivers, home health aides, dog walkers, pet sitters, and more, as well as 8 free days of emergency backup care for all employees.
Health and Medical
We don't just want Gurus to be healthy. We want to enhance their well-being, support their growth, and help them make space for what they value most.

- Health insurance is provided through Blue Cross Blue Shield with two PPO options to choose from including a PPO Plan or a PPO Saver Plan with HSA, to which CG contributes.
- Our Blue Cross Blue Shield dental coverage includes four cleanings a year to help Gurus keep their teeth healthy and smiles bright.
- Our vision coverage through VSP includes an annual eye exam along with other benefits such as lenses and frames. Gurus also have access to discounts on prescriptions and laser vision correction.
- To best support our Gurus and their families, CarGurus offers three different Flexible Spending Accounts to help employees cover qualified health care and/or dependent care expenses.
- Gurus get a free Headspace subscription, counseling/support services through our Employee Assistance Program, and access to guest speakers covering stress management, burnout prevention, and more.
- All Gurus receive fertility health and family-forming benefits through Carrot Fertility including adoption, in vitro fertilization, egg/sperm freezing, and menopause support.

Retirement Benefits
We want to help you plan confidently for years ahead.

- CarGurus offers traditional and Roth 401K plans through Fidelity with automatic enrollment after 30 days.
- We match 50 cents of every dollar of your 401K contributions up to 8% of your eligible compensation. You're 50% vested after one year of employment, 100% vested after two.
- We offer Restricted stock units (RSUs) to new hires, subject to time-based vesting tied to employment. These are subject to time-based vesting tied to employment, and Gurus have the potential to earn more RSUs through retention programs and eligible promotions.
- Depending on your role, you will also be eligible for either our sales incentive or employee bonus program.
How We Work
Our hybrid model gives Gurus flexibility to integrate work and life. Perks like a $15 a day lunch subsidy, paid commuter fees, and pop-up events make in-office time easy to enjoy. Many CG teams have regular, in-person all-hands meetings at which they share updates, celebrate success, recognize individual contributions, and discuss what's to come.
How We Pay
Compensation at CarGurus generally consists of two main components—base pay/salary and variable cash (such as bonus and/or commission). We strive to pay competitively for our markets and to ensure our approach is equitable, consistent, and fair. Conducting regular audits, and working with external vendors that specialize in compensation practices at tech companies, helps us get the data and perspective we need to reach this goal.

All CarGurus employees get company equity in the form of restricted stock units (RSUs) when they start, and strong performers may get more as they continue to grow with us. RSUs vest at a rate of 25% a year for 4 years.

Some employees have generated extra income through our referral bonus program, and by taking leadership roles in one of our Employee Resource Groups or in our Diversity Advisory Council. We also offer many benefits that save you money or put it back in your pocket, like a $15 a day lunch stipend in the office, tuition reimbursement up to $10K; our Auto Perk credit of $1,250 toward a car; a commuter benefit that covers most if not all of your commuting expenses.

A flexible hybrid model and robust time off policies encourage work-life balance and individual well-being.

- We supplement our flexible hybrid model, vacation time off, and 12 company holidays plus unlimited personal/sick time with periodic mental health days off each year.
- Our unlimited personal time empowers Gurus to take time away for doctor visits, parent-teacher conferences, home repair appointments, etc. Some use PTO for religious holidays that we do not already have off.
- Our unlimited sick leave allows Gurus to take the time they need to care for their own physical or mental health and/or that of a family member.
- After 5 years at CarGurus, employees earn a one-month sabbatical, and get another after 10. People use this time to take dream vacations, visit family abroad, and attend playoff games... or to do nothing at all!
