Generative AI tools for radically easier, more equitable, and affordable government communications and services.

lMcU
29Ah,KD1g

kACX

Who we are

Visible or not, your life, like everyone’s around you, is continuously and seriously shaped by the government services you receive. Whether it be certain checked boxes on tax forms, phone calls to retain medicaid benefits, or long lines at the DMV - how, where, and when our governments provide for us changes our daily lives and our lifetime goals. At CivicReach.AI, we’re creating more (and more human) access to government services for everyone.

Our starting point is the CivicReach platform - trainable voice AI agents built specifically for local government offices. Our platform is designed to create accessible, equitable, and affordable customer service interactions for government offices. We help offices that are understaffed and not always able to answer resident phone calls and provide a customer service channel, over the phone, that enables real-time sentiment analysis, multilingual responses, and proactive service delivery.

We are an pre-seed stage startup that grew from a mission to fix a root issue with democracy in America - our falling trust in local government. We are proudly backed by:

  • National League of Cities,
  • the GovAI Coalition,
  • CivStart,
  • NC IDEA, and
  • NextWave.NYC

We also are actively hiring our founding team - the first few folks who will shape our platform, mission, and our ultimate success.

We have a lot of work to do–and that is where you come in! We are looking for exceptional folks who care a whole lot about fixing government, are both enduringly optimistic and rigorously cautious about emerging technology, and want to spend their time making a difference in communities all across the country.

What you will do

You will be our Founding Engineer, which means you’ll be our first or second hire and report directly to our Founder and CEO (who is a software engineer himself). Your primarily responsibility will be to execute an AI-first product roadmap across a full engineering and data stack. You’ll own and be hands-on keyboard for the entire product development and deployment process. Our success will be because of your ability to balance an elegant and production scale platform with agile and scrappy ways of getting things done.

Technical Product Strategy and Vision

  • Collaborate closely with the Founder and CEO to define and articulate platform architecture, product roadmap, and overall technical vision.
  • Co-own technical product details, implementation decisions, frameworks, and processes.

Hands-On Product Engineering

  • Lead the agile development of our platform, including backend software development, API development, frontend development, and third party integrations.
  • Build on AI tools like large language models (LLMs), natural language understanding (NLU), and generation (NLG).
  • Implement infrastructure best practices for scalability, security, and data privacy.

AI and Data-First Development

  • Aggregate and store proprietary data from our platform and third party sources.
  • Build with and on top of data analytics, data warehousing, and data pipeline tools.
  • Stay up to date on language model-specific AI frameworks, general AI research, and best practices across data, and full stack engineering.

User-Centric Design

  • Participate in user research - understanding how residents want and need to connect with their local government to receive information and services.
  • Analyze user interaction and assessment data to make informed decisions for product improvements.

You are someone who

You would be a great match for this role if you have:

Experience:

  • 2+ years as a former early-stage (zero to one) startup founding engineer / CTO (we are partial to hires #1 - #10),
  • or 7+ years as a fullstack software engineer with a deep understanding of startups.
  • and custom AI chat or AI voice experience

Skills:

  • Deep expertise in JavaScript, Python, or both.
  • Proven experience as a product engineer who understands user research, product management, and product design.

Passion:

  • Proven experience and dedication in the civic engagement or govtech space.
  • Ability to quickly shift between high-level strategy and low level code.
  • Lots of grit.

It would be a big plus if you had:

  • Experience building an civic engagement product from zero to one.
  • Familiarity with GovTech technologies, trends, and best practices.

We both share values

  • Build Technology for Humans: You believe in the immense power of AI, and want to channel it into technology that helps humans.
  • Create Purposeful Efficiency: You want to make government better by helping public officials happier, more efficient, and more responsive to their communities.
  • Invest in our collective success: You get your hands dirty; you will never say, “That’s not my job,” “That’s not my problem to solve,” or “I don’t care.”
  • Collaborate With Everyone: You treat users, customers, teammates, and everyone as equal, mission-critical partners. You always seek to bring in voices missing from the table.
  • Stay Curious: You constantly ask “how might we?” and you seek out creative solutions to challenges other people don’t even notice.
  • Evolve toward Excellence: You keep yourself and our team moving in the same direction - to help everyone get the services they need. We all make mistakes and we all keep learning, adapting, and innovating as we go.

Compensation

This is a full-time position that includes a salary and equity, depending on your experience. The annual salary range is $100,000 - $150,000 and founding team equity appropriate for a pre-seed stage company.

Protect AI is innovating at the cutting edge of ML and Security. AI/ML bring new and unique cybersecurity vulnerabilities. While traditional exploits can be detected and mitigated, new ML-specific threats such as ML code injection attacks, prompt injection attacks and attacks on the ML supply chain require entirely new thinking, research, and methods to help this AI-enabled world be safer for all. Protect AI is giving enterprise cybersecurity and ML teams a common way to understand these new risks by enabling ML developers to build security into their applications from the start.

Job Description

Protect AI is seeking a Senior Product Designer to lead and develop our internal design system. The selected candidate will collaborate closely with the design, product, and engineering teams. In this role, you will be instrumental in shaping the platform’s user experience, supporting the design team in creating new components, UI patterns, and guidelines. You will act as a bridge between design and engineering, ensuring that designs are implemented with the highest standards of UX/UI quality. You Will

  • Actively contribute to Storybook with front-end team.
  • Lead the process of component creation and facilitate communication across global design and engineering teams.
  • Participate in product calls to understand use cases and support the design of scalable components.
  • Assist product and engineering teams in designing new platform features, following best UX practices and interaction design principles.
  • Ensure a smooth component-building process, maintaining consistency, application, and documentation.
  • Make informed design decisions based on customer feedback, stakeholder input, and industry research.
  • Collaborate with multiple stakeholders across the company to ensure scoping accounts for all needs and requirements.

What We Are Looking For

  • 5+ years of UX/UI design experience (or equivalent).
  • Experience in building and maintaining design systems in Figma.
  • Strong understanding of front-end development.
  • Deep understanding of the design cycle, including concept development, research, scoping, wireframing, designing, prototyping, and testing.
  • Experience working on complex web applications and enterprise software.
  • Experience in designing SaaS products.
  • Proficiency in interaction design and building complex UI patterns.
  • Ability to quickly iterate on designs based on user feedback and research.
  • Strong documentation skills and the ability to effectively present work to product and engineering teams.
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards and responsive design.
  • A portfolio demonstrating a strong grasp of consistency, typography, color, layout design, and attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • A high degree of ownership and accountability for assigned projects.
  • Experience working in an agile environment is a plus.

Qualifications

  • B.A. in UX Design, Graphic Design, or a related field preferred.
  • Portfolio demonstrating strong user-centered design, research processes, usability principles, and web-based UX/UI examples.
  • Ability to create pixel-perfect mockups and prototypes.
  • Up-to-date with the latest design and UX trends.
  • Proficiency in design and prototyping tools such as Figma.
  • Strong understanding of complementary tools like Storybook and React.

Nice To Have

  • Degree or certification in front-end development (preferred).
  • Experience with B2B enterprise software.
  • Experience in complex data visualization.

What We Offer

  • An exciting and collaborative work environment in a fast-growing startup.
  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
  • Opportunities for professional growth and development, including attending and presenting technical talks at meetups and conferences.
  • A culture that values innovation, accountability, and teamwork.
  • Work with a team of talented and accomplished peers from AWS, Microsoft, and Oracle Cloud.
  • Access to best-in-class tools — MacBook Pro, 34” monitor, modern tech stack, and high-quality collaboration tools.
  • No bureaucracy or legacy systems—you are empowered to innovate and do your best work.

About Samaya

Samaya is building the first Human-AI Knowledge Network – an information ecosystem to transform expert knowledge work.

Expert knowledge work drives trillions of dollars of economic activity. Teams of human experts painstakingly synthesize insights and drive decisions from vast volumes of noisy, real-time information. For examples, in financial services, expert analysts hone in on and use key economic insights to inform high-stake investment decisions. Although the volume of information only continues to grow, past technology has only had a passive role, and today's human experts struggle with information overload. We believe AI should take an active role in complex knowledge work, becoming an equal collaborator to human experts.

But such an AI will not "simply emerge" through scaling, or the development of general purpose LLMs. At Samaya, we are developing an AI-system purpose-built for "expert intelligence" -- for reasoning and interacting with real-world information networks. Our AI is designed to consume dense, noisy real-time information, distill key insights, form connections, contextualize findings, and make expert predictions. We are building a future where our expert intelligence AI can transform global knowledge work for the better.

Our Operating Principles

  • Put Users first. Our users rely on us to do their jobs. We exist because our users trust us to help them achieve their goals. In return for this trust users place in us, we keep their needs as our top priority.
  • Win as a collective. We are high achievers with a drive to succeed. We build strong bonds over this shared drive. We dive in to help when one of us needs it. We’re kind to each other and boost each other to succeed and grow professionally and personally. We build trust with each other by making commitments and consistently delivering on them. This trust means we genuinely support each other, embracing feedback as a tool for growth and improvement. We win by operating this way, as one team.
  • Focus and iterate quickly. Bias for action makes us build and learn quickly. Iterating fast requires clarity on what outcomes we are targeting and why. Prioritizing the important things, taking full ownership and initiative, making fast initial progress, and rapid iterations lead to the best outcomes.
  • Innovate Relentlessly. We pursue novel insights, challenging the status quo and reimagining how things are done. We aren’t attached to the past when improving our product and how we work in the future. We actively invest time in innovation, thinking “outside the box” to consistently raise our standards.
  • Prioritize Outcomes over Egos. We are committed not to a person, an idea, or an opinion but to continuously making progress to our goals. Sometimes, our goals are ambiguous; in those moments, we iterate, learn, and move on to the next inquiry. We ask the tough questions with kindness, dropping our egos in our pursuit of evidence. For our business goals, we learn from our users. For our scientific goals, our understanding is built through rigorous experimentation, research, and observation. For our personal goals, we embrace candid feedback and collaborative learning to guide our progress.
