Acting as a team liaison for various internal and external stakeholders, you will ensure accurate and timely communication and alignment. Your responsibilities will include overseeing Returned Merchandise Authorization (RMA) generation, support, issue resolution, and generating performance metrics for both internal and external teams. Additionally, you will facilitate seamless communication across fleet engineering, data center technicians, and vendor teams.

Here are a few qualities we’ve found compatible with our team. If some of this describes you, we’d love to talk.

  • 3-5 years experience with physical IT infrastructure, Data Center operations and/or RMA of physical equipment with external vendors.
  • Experience working with and developing ticket-based workflows and looking at issues and ticket data trends to help identify bottlenecks and areas for improvement.
  • Familiar with tools and methods to create and maintain detailed documentation, and have proven experience in generating client-facing reports on infrastructure metrics, server management, and case workflows.
  • Practiced in communicating with external vendors regarding business needs, priorities, incidents, and effectively resolving conflicts when they arise.
  • Demonstrated execution ability and excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to conduct regular project reviews and evaluations to assess effectiveness, identify areas for improvement, and drive continuous optimization. Robust problem-solving skills and adaptability in a fast-paced environment

About the role:

***Please note that this is a night shift role, which operates from 12am - 12pm EST, Monday through Wednesday and every other Thursday***

The Cloud Operations Team is the heart of CoreWeave’s operational practice.  As a Cloud Operations Engineer, you’ll work as a team in a Virtual (remote) Operations Center responding to performance and availability issues across the CoreWeave cloud.  This role places you on the front line of operations, bridging the gap between Customer Support and Service Owning teams.  Working in shifts ensuring 24x7 coverage, you’ll develop proactive health monitoring, triage alerts and incidents serving in the commander role during Priority Incident events, and participate in ongoing analysis and reliability improvement practices.

Collaborating across development and engineering, this role allows you to operate horizontally and vertically within the CoreWeave ecosystem to root out problems, initiate and coordinate responses, and drive lower MTTR and MTTD scores.

This role is ideal for an individual with broad technology and troubleshooting skills who has the desire to expand their knowledge in critical areas such as networking, storage, Kubernetes, automation, and observability.  Candidates in this role likely aspire to a career as an SRE, domain specific engineer or engineering management.

You will work with a team of 8 Operations Engineers and have the opportunity to work on the full gamut of rewarding challenges that come with operating the AI Cloud in a communicative, supportive, and high-performing environment.

As a member of the Cloud Operations Team you have the opportunity to:

  • With a customer first mindset, proactively identify performance and availability issues in production
  • Interpret operational and observability data to assess system performance and adherence to Service Level Objectives
  • Investigate, validate and triage alerts and incidents
  • Enable insight into the customer experience by developing and maintaining dashboarding and alerting
  • Provide Tier 2 support for internal and customer facing services
  • Act with autonomy to initiate and coordinate response to priority incidents as Incident Commander
  • Participate in, and/or conduct incident post mortems
  • Draft Post Incident Review documents
  • Identify opportunities and implement solutions to improve response processes
  • Partner with SRE and Service Owning teams to ensure operational readiness for services and applications
  • Create and maintain knowledge articles and documentation
  • Learn and navigate the tools, systems and processes that enable the AI cloud
  • Grow, change, invest in your teammates, be invested-in, share your ideas, listen to others, be curious, have fun, and above all, be yourself.

Wondering if you’re a good fit? We believe in investing in our people, and value candidates who can bring their own diversified experiences to our teams – even if you aren't a 100% skill or experience match. Here are some qualities we’ve found compatible with our team. If a portion of this resonates with you, we’d love to talk.

  • You enjoy using observability data to visualize service health, and triangulate proximate cause of performance and availability issues.
  • You have experience in a support capacity with broad understanding and ability to navigate and interact with modern applications and infrastructure
  • You are comfortable managing communication and coordinating multiple engineers during an incident
  • You have a desire to learn or have experience with automation.
  • You are comfortable with the idea of working on the Linux CLI and have a foundational understanding of scripting including elements such as conditionals, variables, and loop structures.
  • You’re comfortable in open source environments.

  • You’re excited to help bootstrap a new team and contribute to developing processes that enable the future scalability of the team.
  • You are open to feedback, coaching, and being an active participant in improving how the team functions
  • You’re excited to join a team with diverse perspectives and backgrounds that believe in tackling challenges, growing hand in hand, and winning together.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $110,000-$140,000 annually. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

Hi, I’m Paul, VP Engineering at Customer.io.

I’m looking for someone to manage the engineering team for our newest product: Data Pipelines. Launched in the middle of 2023, Data Pipelines is an opportunity to work on a startup-within-a-startup. You’ll get to move fast and own broad scope in something new, while having the support and resources of a 250-person company. You’ll lead a team solving challenging problems in both scalable distributed systems while building an intuitive user experience.

At Customer.io, we are tired of the fact that most messages people receive are dull, mistimed, repetitive, and overbearing. We aim to fix that. The first product we introduced is Journeys: the industry’s most flexible automation platform for customer communication (email, mobile push, SMS, and more). Our second product is Data Pipelines: a Customer Data Platform (CDP) that empowers marketers at companies big and small to bring accurate, real-time data to all customer touch points.

Help us make an impact on the high-growth CDP market like we already have in the marketing automation market!

As an Engineering Manager at Customer.io, you will...

  • Lead effective squad rituals, and ensure production readiness through quality peer-review, QA, documentation, deployment, logging, and monitoring practices
  • Ensure your squad’s solutions are scalable, architecturally sound, flexible, and secure
  • Create accountability for delivery timelines while fostering an inclusive, collaborative, and empathetic work environment
  • Provide direct, timely, and specific coaching and development opportunities for your direct reports across backend, frontend, fullstack, and QA
  • Hire, onboard, transfer, and manage performance to ensure the right people are in place to accomplish business objectives within your squad
  • Understand Customer.io’s vision, business model, target markets, acquisition channels, competitors, and products well enough to ask questions that drive meaningful investigation within your squad
  • Build and maintain a partnership with your Product Management and Design peers

We're looking for someone who…

  • Works in North/South American time zones
  • Has at least 3+ years experience as an Engineering Manager working on a SaaS product (B2B or B2C) at an (ideally early-to-mid-stage) SaaS company
  • Understands SaaS software architecture, languages, technologies, and cloud infrastructure deeply enough to represent their squad’s technical choices across the company
  • Makes time to understand technical architecture, tinker with new technologies, review proposals, and provide feedback to level up the engineers around them
  • Builds and nurtures high performing teams
  • Is fueled to reach higher when our customers are having a bad day
  • Communicates concisely, accurately, and directly, both verbally and in writing
