Working as a coder at Hudson River Trading (HRT) means working on a small, highly productive, and efficient team. You may see "trading" in our name and assume you'll be relegated to some dark corner to code for the "business," but that could not be further from the truth! 

At HRT, an automated trading firm based in NYC, the code you write *is* our business, so it is everyone's job to make sure our developers have everything they need to do their jobs well.

HRT’s two main programming languages are C++ and Python. We use C++ for anything latency-sensitive that sits on the critical trading path, and we use Python for everything else. With Python, we monitor live trading, build our distributed computing platform, process large amounts of data, and write all of our internal tools.

As a Python Engineer at HRT, you’ll have an incredible opportunity to work in cutting-edge distributed compute environments at one of the top algorithmic trading companies in the world. The Networks team designs, builds and maintains all the communications infrastructure that allows our high-capacity, low-latency trading and data research environments to run 24/7.  This network spans over 25 countries and 100 locations. What You’ll Do:

We are seeking a high-performing, self-sufficient Manager to join our Treasury team. Position Overview:  

The Vice President of People Operations will be responsible for building and scaling a world-class HR function to support our growing workforce. You will lead a team of HR Business Partners and HR Generalists, driving operational excellence across all HR programs and processes. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker who thrives in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to balance high-level planning with hands-on execution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute the overall People Operations strategy in alignment with company goals.
  • Lead and scale a high-performing team of HR Business Partners and Generalists to support leadership and employees across the company.
  • Serve as a key HR leader, partnering with other department heads to ensure seamless integration of HR practices across all business units.
  • Provide strategic advice and coaching to senior leaders on all people-related matters.
  • Oversee the development and optimization of scalable HR processes including employee relations, onboarding, HRIS, employee ticketing systems, and general HR support.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations as the company expands into new markets.
  • Continuously improve HR systems, workflows, and tools to ensure efficiency and scalability.
  • Collaborate with the Talent Acquisition and Learning & Development teams to ensure a seamless employee lifecycle, from hiring to onboarding, development, and retention.
  • Lead efforts in employee relations, conflict resolution, and organizational development.
  • Partner with leadership on workforce planning, succession planning, and talent management strategies.
  • Act as a champion of company culture and core values, ensuring they are embedded into all aspects of HR and business processes.
  • Drive initiatives that foster a positive, inclusive, and high-performing work environment.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • 10+ years of progressive HR experience, with a strong background in People Operations and managing HR teams.
  • Experience in a scaling tech company or high-growth environment is highly preferred.
  • Proven track record of leading and scaling HR operations functions across multiple locations or geographies.
  • Strong knowledge of HR best practices, compliance, and employment laws.
  • Experience implementing and optimizing HR systems and tools.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, and rapidly changing environment.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $275,000-$325,000. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
