Vice President of Operations

 •
Flaik
Lafayette, Colorado
Private
1-50

We’re a full time specialist making ski school management simpler, smarter, better. We’re a product company, meaning we focus on delivering outcomes and benefits rather than shiny features which don’t help our customers. We believe in being the one stop shop for ski schools which means delivering tools that enable instructors, managers and directors to spend more time their guests.

Heads up: If you’re interested in this role, don’t just click ‘apply.’ Instead, drop us a line at jobs@flaik.com and tell us why this gig speaks to you. We welcome interest from leaders of all backgrounds, particularly those whose voices have historically been underrepresented in operations and tech.

About flaik

We make ski school management simpler, smarter, and better—serving 70+ of the top ski and ride schools across North America, Australia, and New Zealand. Beyond our core platform, we provide tailored Professional Services, build robust applications, and deliver seamless integrations that power every part of a resort’s operation.

Whether it’s instructors on snow, managers behind the scenes, or entire teams collaborating across systems, we help our partners spend less time wrestling with tools and more time doing what they love: getting people outside, learning new skills, and having fun.  As VP of Operations, you’ll directly shape the systems and support that empower thousands of ski and ride instructors across North America, Australia, and New Zealand. Your leadership will help entire teams deliver joyful, safe, and seamless experiences on the mountain.

We’ve been doing this for 16+ years and still have that startup spirit—small, fast-moving, thoughtful, and dedicated. We’re looking for a Vice President of Operations to keep our teams humming, our customers smiling, and our future growing.

We value collaborative, empathetic, and thoughtful leadership—because we know how we work is just as important as what we deliver. If you’ve been told you’re ‘too empathetic,’ ‘too detail-oriented,’ or ‘too passionate,’ you might be exactly what we need.

What You’ll Be Owning at flaik

This leadership role touches nearly every part of our company. You’ll work out of our Lafayette, CO office and report directly to our Chief Operating Officer. Our culture is collaborative, mission-driven, and a little snow-customer-obsessed. We believe in meaningful work, flexible lives, and having fun along the way.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Oversee daily operations across the Operations, Support, and Services teams.
  • Collaborate with our executive team to align cross-functional strategy and ensure people are focused on the right things.
  • Support professional growth—mentoring your team, advocating for their success, and building capacity.

Sprint Planning

  • Guide how we plan and execute work across Operations, Support, and Services by partnering with Team Leads who prioritize and manage specific focus areas. Shape and support recurring team rituals—like check-ins, retrospectives, and sprint planning—to keep work aligned, efficient, and evolving.
  • Collaborate closely with the Data, Applications & Integrations Team to support their sprint planning and ensure their work is well-integrated into broader operational goals and timelines.
  • Collaborate closely with the Customer Experience Team to support their sprint planning and ensure their work is well-integrated into broader operational goals and timelines.
  • Lead sprint planning sessions, manage backlogs, and ensure everyone’s pulling in the same direction.
  • Implement clear sprint reporting, measure success, and adapt based on real data.

Operational Efficiency & Support Tools

  • Own inbox management, seasonal scheduling, and tools that make our teams better at what they do.
  • Partner with our Director of Business Solutions to streamline processes and ensure our tools are top-notch.
  • Work with our SVP of Customer Experience to help support teams improve their customer skills.

Resort Onboarding & Re-Onboarding

  • Work alongside the applicable Operations, Support & Services Team Lead to drive a thoughtful, organized onboarding process for new ski resorts—ensuring each snow school has the tools, training, and support they need to hit the ground running with flaik. You’ll keep things on track, remove roadblocks, and help new partners start strong.
  • For returning resorts, you’ll help build and maintain a consistent, repeatable re-onboarding process in collaboration with the Operations, Support & Team Lead—one that supports the adoption of new features, reinforces key seasonal workflows and ensures every snow school is set up for success, year after year.
  • You’ll also support end-of-season wrap-ups that gather insights and feedback from resorts to close the loop on what worked, what didn’t, and where we can improve—feeding directly into planning for the next season and enhancing the overall resort experience.

Event Execution

  • Support the execution of internal and customer-facing events that align with our team and company goals.
  • From monthly meetups to annual planning sessions—if it helps the team thrive, you’re helping make it happen.

Travel Management

  • Plan smart, cost-effective travel for our Ops, Support, and Services Team.
  • Every August, you’ll develop the master travel plan for the North American winter. (Bonus: you’ll get to visit resorts. It’s a tough job, but someone’s gotta do it.)

External Knowledge Base

  • Keep our customer-facing Knowledge Base current, clear, and helpful.
  • Work with the product, support, and CX teams to ensure documentation matches what we deliver.
  • Use feedback and support data to improve the customer experience and reduce support requests.

What Will Help You Thrive in This Role

We’re looking for someone with strong operational leadership experience—but we know great leaders come from many backgrounds. Whether you’ve built your skills through formal roles, boot camps, entrepreneurial ventures, or non-traditional paths, we value what you bring.

Clarity builds better teams, so here’s what we’ll be counting on:

  • A leader who communicates with transparency and respect.
  • Strong organizational skills and a love of systems that help people.
  • Flexibility and a willingness to wear many hats.
  • A drive to improve—yourself, your team, the company.
  • The ability to take constructive feedback, stay accountable, and move forward.

What You Can Expect from flaik

  • Proper training and professional development (including 2 weeks per year for learning & growth).
  • 6 weeks of paid leave per year (no public holiday schedule—you take time off when it works for you).
  • 12 weeks of paid maternity or paternity leave
  • $4,000 annual wellness benefit to support your best self.
  • Health coverage that doesn’t suck.
  • 401k with up to a 4% match.
  • A 9-day fortnight (yep, you get every second Friday off* subject to seasonality, when Friday may become Monday or Thursday).
  • 40 hours of paid volunteer time annually—because giving back matters.
  • An Ikon Pass so you can ski or board the resorts where we work and play.
  • A high-impact role in a small, passionate team that gives a damn.

Base Compensation

In compliance with Colorado’s Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, we are disclosing the base salary range for the Vice President of Operations position: $120,000 to $150,000 annually. This range represents the lowest and highest compensation we reasonably expect to pay for this role.

The final salary will be determined based on the candidate’s experience, skills, and qualifications. In addition to the base salary, this position is eligible for comprehensive benefits, including health care coverage, 401k matches, paid time off, and other perks. We are committed to transparency and equity in our compensation practices, ensuring all employees are fairly rewarded for their contributions.

Location & Travel

This is a full-time role based in our Lafayette, Colorado, office. While you can occasionally work from home, much of your work is hands-on and in-person—especially during busy seasonal periods. You’ll also occasionally hit the road for resort visits and events. If you’ve read this far and think, “Yes, this sounds like me,” we want to hear from you. But again—don’t just hit apply. Write to us at jobs@flaik.com and give us a reason to respond.

We’re excited to meet you.

At flaik, better leadership comes from diverse experiences and perspectives. We encourage applications from people who may not check every box but bring curiosity, clarity, and courage.

  • Deliver thoughtful and well-designed products at a timely pace

  • Know the customer and relentlessly advocate in their best interest

  • Be tenacious. Do whatever it takes to keep your team moving, perfection is the enemy of progress

  • Experience with qualitative and quantitative experimentation methods

The Roku Culture

Roku is a great place for people who want to work in a fast-paced environment where everyone is focused on the company's success rather than their own. We try to surround ourselves with people who are great at their jobs, who are easy to work with, and who keep their egos in check. We appreciate a sense of humor. In short, at Roku you'll be part of a company that's changing how the world watches TV.

We have a unique culture that we are proud of. We think of ourselves primarily as problem-solvers, which itself is a two-part idea. We come up with the solution, but the solution isn't real until it is built and delivered to the customer. That penchant for action gives us a pragmatic approach to innovation, one that has served us well since 2002.
