The Lead Architect in the API Practice will work closely with solution teams across the organization, help promote a culture of an API first approach in solution design by coaching and guiding the solution engineering team. This individual will help design the APIs required for alignment with the guiding principles, best practices and standards laid out by EM. Through these efforts, the architect will contribute to the API marketplace and ensure a single version of the truth of business capabilities. The architect will also participate and contribute significantly to the goals of other workstreams of the Enterprise Mobility API Governance.

 

To be successful in this role, you will need to influence and partner with other technologists and leaders. You will need to foster relationships with engineers, architects, and people leaders to ensure we are developing cohesive and comprehensive solutions.

Responsibilities

The Director, Software Engineering will direct and oversee the transition of COVID-19 data systems to support endemic, emerging health conditions, infectious diseases, and environmental surveillance, and ensure that data systems developed to support COVID-19 can be sustained and expanded as necessary to support both COVID-19 endemic phase and other outbreak and pandemic. The incumbent will work closely with stakeholders, engineering teams, and other managers to ensure that COVID data systems align with business goals and technical requirements.

This position will be responsible for directing, leading and supervising software engineering teams through architecting, designing, building, testing, and implementing innovative services and technical solutions across full stack of COVID-19 data systems The incumbent will encourage innovation and implementation of new technology, and ensure scalable, secure and resilient implementations.

Other appropriate related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Computer Information Systems, or a related field and six years of experience in the direction and/or management of an information technology program or closely related field, public health, health/human services, or health regulatory program or community-based services program/ organization; OR an Associate’s degree in a related field and eight years of such experience; OR ten years of such experience. The years of experience must have included policy formulation, program planning, design, implementation, evaluation, and/ or allocation of resources. At least four years of experience must have included supervision of staff. A Master’s degree in a related field may substitute for one year of experience.

Preferred Qualifications

At least seven years of experience in application architecture, creating standard practices, and overall design of complex systems, with at least five years in a senior technical leadership role.  At least two years’ experience architecting and developing applications on a cloud architecture. Relevant experience supporting public health data systems as well as technology operations and design, evaluating and troubleshooting complex problems, documenting technical concepts, diagrams, and instructions for a wide variety of stakeholders. A Master’s degree in Computer Science Technology or Information Technology.

Conditions of Employment

Grant funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required.

Valid and unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. is required. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Travel, up to 10% of the time, may be required.

The selected candidate must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of the official work location specified in the job posting and must also be located in or willing to relocate to one of the following states: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Vermont, or Massachusetts, prior to hire. Telecommuting will not be available.

This position may require occasional work on weekends, after-hours, and holidays.

The Washington Post is seeking a Senior Product Designer to join its Subscriptions Product Design team and execute the product design and strategy for WP Intelligence, a B2B product aimed at helping business leaders leverage policy, regulatory and data-driven insights for decision-making. As the Senior Product Designer on the Subscriptions team focused on WP Intelligence, you’ll work through all phases of the product design process. Responsibilities

  • End-to-end product design: Work through the design process to iteratively design and deliver a cohesive and scalable product ecosystem for WP Intelligence, from project kick-off through launch and post-launch improvements.
  • Independently conceptualize design solutions: Generate creative and scalable design concepts that align with user needs and business goals, translating ideas into tangible design solutions.
  • Create sophisticated prototypes: Build interactive prototypes to visualize and test the functionality and user experience, iterating designs based on qualitative and quantitative feedback.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, brand designers, marketing, and editorial stakeholders, to ensure design cohesion and successful implementation.
  • Conduct and integrate research: Analyze user data, conduct user interviews and usability testing, evaluate behaviors, and integrate insights into product designs that are intuitive, user-friendly, and address real-world challenges.
  • Refine & deliver design specs iteratively: Continuously refine and improve design solutions based on usability testing, user feedback, and changing project requirements. Provide engineering teams with detailed design specs and support implementation through design QA and testing.
  • Stay informed on industry trends: Monitor competitors and broader design trends to ensure WP Intelligence delivers a modern, innovative user experience.
  • Advocate for design quality: Serve as a champion of user-centered design across teams to foster design thinking and deliver best-in-class solutions.

Qualifications

  • A portfolio that shows a strong body of product design work that highlights practical skills, creative problem-solving, and the ability to address user and business needs effectively
  • 4+ years of product design experience, preferably in digital subscriptions or B2B products
  • Proficiency in design software and tools such as Figma, ProtoPie, HTML/CSS, Adobe Creative Suite and other relevant design and prototyping tools
  • Familiarity with front-end development concepts and agile development to collaborate effectively with engineers
  • Expertise in user-centered design processes, including user research, persona creation, usability testing, and analytics
  • Experience using quantitative and qualitative data to inform design decisions, identify user needs, and measure success
  • Strong written, verbal, and visual communication, as well as presentation skills
  • Proven ability to independently manage multiple initiatives simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

What You’ll Do  

As we continue to expand our operations and reach, we are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Payroll Accountant to join our finance team.  The Payroll Accountant will be responsible on a regular basis for managing all aspects of payroll reconciliation, payroll and benefit accruals and journal entries on a bi-weekly, monthly and quarterly schedule as required. In addition, this position will be tasked with managing payroll taxes at the federal, state and local levels.  This may include registering the company in new states and working with the payroll vendor for any variances or necessary amendments.  This position will also serve as a Payroll Specialist back-up when needed. 

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the payroll processing team to address any discrepancies or issues related to payroll reconciliation or journal entry and resolve them promptly.
  • Review Quarterly payroll tax fillings for federal and states, work with representatives to resolve issues or notices.
  • Accrue payroll, bonus and benefit expenses at month end.
  • Review biweekly payroll journal entries integrated to the accounting system NetSuite, reconcile all payroll related GL accounts: Accruals, withholding, benefits, taxes, 401K and others.
  • Analyze monthly and quarterly payroll expenses and explain the flux.
  • Support SOX and statutory audits related to payroll.
  • Maintain GL mapping between payroll and accounting systems.
  • Reconciliation of cash accounts as they relate to payroll fees and refunds.
  • Record adjusting journal entries as needed.
  • Prepare flux analysis for payroll related accounts.
  • Monitor accounts for unexpected or unusual changes and research for a timely resolution.
  • Manage integration of data between payroll and accounting systems.
  • Validation of data related to employee department and location for accrual and reporting accuracy.
  • When necessary, calculate and process regular bi-weekly payroll including incentive compensation, SPIFFs and scheduled additional payments.
  • Research and resolve any payroll discrepancies that come through.
  • Maintain internal controls to safeguard payroll data and mitigate risks of errors or non-compliance.
  • Maintain accurate and organized payroll records, including employee information, timesheets, tax withholdings, and benefit deductions.
  • Stay informed of federal, state, and local payroll regulations, tax laws, and reporting requirements.

As a Technical Support Specialist you will be challenged with investigating and resolving complex customer issues escalated by our clients, Client Experience and Solutions teams.

The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $13700 - $28600 annually.

Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location.
